The Helen Quilt in Starry

The Helen Quilt in Starry

I absolutely love the Starry prints by Alexia Abegg. This versatile and easy-to-work-with collection has become a staple in my quilting projects. I made a quilt with these prints (see here) and have used Starry for lots of mockups (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here). When the previous Starry prints were discontinued, I was so sad!

But luckily, a new selection of Starry prints is now available, and they were perfect for the Helen Quilt Pattern.

The Perfect Pair: the Helen Quilt Pattern and Starry

The Helen Quilt Pattern is a star pattern, and Starry is a star print, making them a perfect match. The mini Starry print works wonderfully as a background fabric. You know I’ve stocked up on this one! For the quilt top, I didn’t use a couple of the new Starry colors, so I decided to incorporate them into the backing and binding. The backing is Warm Red and the binding is Smoke. The Helen Quilt in Starry - Kitchen Table Quilting

Quilting Magic

For the quilting, my wonderful and talented friend Heidi quilted this one for me. To be honest, I wasn’t initially interested in the wavy lines panto, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the result. It gave the quilt a subtle stars and stripes look, which photographed beautifully. I will definitely use this panto again in future projects.

Why You’ll Love the Helen Quilt Pattern

The Helen Quilt Pattern can be made with fat eighths, fat quarters, or scraps, and it works beautifully with prints, solids, and basics. It includes instructions for sizes ranging from baby to king. The varying sizes of the stars add visual interest, making the quilt both simple and captivating. I’ve also included detailed instructions for making the quilt scrappy, perfect for those who love using leftover fabric pieces.
