Another Linda Quilt in Kona Cottons
Before I wrote the original Linda Quilt pattern, I made a baby-size test version to try out the design. Unfortunately, I only took three photos of the quilt and didn’t write down the Kona colors I used. But I still wanted to share it with you, so I recreated the quilt as a mockup using similar colors in case you’d like to make your own version.
I didn’t want to share this quilt just because it’s another example of the Linda Quilt Pattern — I wanted to share it because it includes two things that I still really love.

First: the backing is corduroy.
A few years ago, Denyse Schmidt released some of her fabrics in fine wale corduroy, and it made the absolute best quilt backing. It was soft, cozy, and gave the quilt so much texture and warmth. I genuinely miss seeing fabrics like this available. I still have a tiny bit left in my stash, but I would absolutely love to see fabric manufacturers start releasing more corduroy prints again — especially wide-back versions.
Second: this quilt is a really good example of using a backing fabric as color inspiration.
If you’re feeling a little stuck trying to choose fabrics for your Linda Quilt, starting with a backing fabric can make the process so much easier. That’s exactly what I did for this version, and I still think it works really well. Pulling colors from a favorite print helps create a palette that already feels cohesive before you even start sewing.
