The Stella Quilt in Vintage Garden
When I was planning out samples for the Stella Quilt, I really wanted to find a collection with lots of florals. Rifle Paper Co.'s Vintage Garden was perfect! You guys know that I am a big Rifle Paper Co. fan (see here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here) and this might be my favorite of all of their collections.
Usually when I am planning a quilt for a collection with lots of florals like this Vintage Garden, I try to find a pattern that won't cut the fabric into small pieces. Even though this pattern uses smaller pieces, larger scale prints still work because they are grouped together. I love how the florals turned out.
Now that I have made this RPC floral version, I am thinking I should make version using Liberty florals. Can you imagine?
I splurged on the backing and used my favorite print in the collection. No regrets, it's gorgeous and it was worth it. The binding is a coral solid that I found in my stash and very unhelpfully do not know what it is called (sorry!).
The pattern is written to have two different background fabrics (although you can use just one and I made a version like that and I will share it soon). You can either use two similar colors like I used here, or you can make the difference more distinct. For this quilt, I used Pure Solids in Snow and Creme de la Creme. They are so pretty.
