The Nina Quilt in Sundance
Ever since I worked with Lady Bird (see this quilt and this quilt) I have been a big fan of Crystal Manning's work. When she offered to send me a bundle of her new collection Sundance, I did not say no.
I had originally planned to use the collection in a different pattern, but when I saw the fabric in person, I knew it was perfect for Nina. These prints lean a little bit more traditional than Crystal's previous collections and I knew that Sundance would help me show how versatile this pattern really is.
The Nina Quilt pattern uses 17 fat quarters for the lap size quilt so I narrowed my bundle down to my favorite prints and then picked a dark blue for the cornerstones. I really wanted the triangles and the cornerstones to stand out from the white background.
The backing fabric is Moda Grunge in Pearl. This is actually the first time I have ever used Grunge in a project and I am super impressed. I actually ended up wishing I had used it for my background fabric in the quilt because it looked so good with the collection. Next time!
You are going to be a little shocked when you see my binding. Normally, I would probably have gone for a dark blue or a dark gray for this quilt but I used a very bright orange. I had this fabric in my stash and it was a perfect match for the orange in the collection.
If you would like to make a quilt just like mine, I put together a fabric guide for you! You can download the fabric guide PDF here. The Nina Quilt is available in my shop and Sundance will be in shops soon.
