The Jonah Quilt in Pure Solids

The Jonah Quilt in Pure Solids

Putting together colors for the cover quilt of the Jonah Quilt Pattern was so much fun. I have been using Pure Solids quite a bit lately because they have some really great muted colors and I am have been leaning in that direction, so with some input from my son Jonah, I put together these colors.

I focused on making sure that none of the overlapping colors were too similar and I also wanted a good distribution of value (some darker colors vertical, some horizontal, everything spread out a little bit). Otherwise, I didn't worry too much about fabric placement.

There are some hidden seams in the vertical fabrics in the quilt, which is something to take into consideration if you are using a print where a seam will be noticeable, but I didn't have to worry about that with solids.

The backing fabric is the black and white print from Maureen Cracknell's Plaid of My Dreams collection. All of these prints would make excellent 108" wide prints so if anyone at Art Gallery is reading this, please make that happen!
