The Blythe Quilt in Pure Solids
As you might imagine, my kids each have a lot of quilts. I have enjoyed making quilts for them at different milestones in their lives and (despite their quilt collections!) I knew I wanted to make a special quilt for Harper to take to college. We looked through some options and she decided on the Blythe Quilt Pattern.
Harper and I have pretty different taste in color. I tend to prefer a more saturated palette and she loves pastels. I had her pick a few colors that she wanted included and gave her 2 options of an accent color. Of course, one of them had a purple color as the accent fabric (Pure Solids in Field of Lavender) but she chose the other option.

That's ok, I don't need her to love purple as much as I do. I decided to use Pure Solids for the quilt because they have a robust selection of pastels and they seemed to work best for the project. I put together a full list of colors right here.
For the back I used luxe cuddle in spearmint. It makes such a cozy quilt and Harper will be far away from home and in a colder climate so I wanted something extra snuggly. It is a little trickier to find, but some luxe cuddle colors are offered 80" wide which means no piecing a messy minky seam on the back of the quilt.
The binding fabric is Pure Solids in Mirage Blue, which is just a little darker than the blue used for the accent fabric. When I make a quilt with minky on the back I like to hand sew the binding to the front of the quilt.

I don’t normally choose pastels but i
Love this! Beautiful. Where is she headed to college? My eldest is entering junior year of high school, I know this is coming for me!

This is lovely! I think it’s wonderful you made Harper a special quilt – and asked her preferences – to take to college. I hope it’s a terrific experience for her.
