My June Giant Block Quilt

My June Giant Block Quilt

Amalfi June Giant Block Quilt - made using the June Giant Block Tutorial from Erica at Kitchen Table Quilting
This quilt is available for sale in my shop!

I had a goal to post my giant block quilt before the end of June and it is currently about 10pm on June 30th so I am cutting it close, but I made it. The long days are totally throwing me for photo taking - I like to take pictures within about an hour of sunset and the sun is going down after 9pm at our house. I'm too tired to take photos by then!

This quilt was quick and it was fun and I loved working with the Amalfi fabrics so much. This is the second quilt I have made with them and I still have some scraps left so it probably won't be the last.

I decided to make the "plus" shapes in the blocks with the darker value fabrics and then use lighter fabrics for the HSTs. I love the details in these prints.

The backing fabric was a splurge - this is my favorite print from the collection, in fact I used the other two color ways of this print in the quilt top. The binding fabric was maybe a little bit of a risk because I don't love greens and this shade of green isn't really in any of the fabrics, but I do love THIS particular green and it felt like the right choice. I think it is a Tula Pink solid.

I sewed it down with my favorite big stitches. The quilting is (another favorite) "organic" crosshatch.

The July Giant Block Tutorial is in the works and will (hopefully) be up and ready to go on Monday. I have generally been writing them ahead of time, but I had a busy month.

Side note: I am in the process of adding several finished quilts to my shop for a sample sale. My stash of unused quilts is getting out of control and I need to clear up some space. The prices are pretty low-ish because I basically just want to make sure that they go to someone who will appreciate them. Keep an eye out because I have several more that I will be adding in the next couple weeks!
